Note From Tod Bowman
Hello Florida Shooters
The FSA Officers and Club Directors met last night to discuss the status of our State Shoot dates of June 5th to June 7th. With the slow reopening of our state due to the Corona Virus and with several unknowns with Duvall County and the State of Florida the directors and officers felt it necessary to move the State Shoot date. With this change of date a change of venue was also required.
To prevent another postponement and additional changes we voted to hold the State Shoot the weekend of the Fall State Championship (November 13th 14th and 15th). The venue will be Imperial Polk County Skeet & Trap. I would like to thank the Jacksonville Clays Shooting Center and their directors for working with us in trying to hold the shoot at their facility.
Brian Bierwagen and Lum Thornhill and the Board of Directors at Imperial Polk this morning offered the FSA their December 4th, 5th and 6th dates (Cold & Snowy Shoot) to hold our JB Mazak / Fall State Championship. This will allow us to honor our Hall of Fame Inductee at a separate event instead of our State Shoot. Thank you to the Polk Club for offering us this alternative. Attending either of these shoots will meet the Florida All State Team requirement for selection to the teams.
As we work through the logistics of putting on these shoots, I will keep you updated. Be assured that it is our intent to make these 2 shoots as enjoyable and fun as possible.
I do have one request; please register for the State Championship as early as you feel comfortable doing so. Attendance numbers will be important for determining food, squad selection and camping. For those 50 shooters that had registered for the State Championship prior to the Corona outbreak, your registration has been rolled over to the new shoot date. If you need to withdraw or are not sure about your registration please reach out to Cheryl our Skeet Princess. Again, the sooner the better.
In closing, everyone please be safe and stay healthy. I look forward to seeing you in November if not before.
The latest correspondence from our treasured Armadillo
I haven't heard a word in such a long time, has my skeet family forgotten about me. I am so tired of being caged up and not seeing anyone! I have plenty of toilet paper, if you come save me I will share.
I never hear the sweat sound and smell of shotgun powder in the morning any more.
Please keep your eyes open and report any sightings.
The Randall Knives have arrived - aren't they amazing ???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Be sure to sign up for this event at the Florida State Skeet Championships
Each team is randomly drawn and contains a shooter from Class AA, A, B and C or D. It's a non-registered 50 bird .410 event. Each member of the 4 Person Team will receive a custom made Randall Knife.
Mary Gamble appointed to FSA Hall of Fame Selection Committee
On an up beat note. I am happy to announce the appointment of Mary Gamble to the FSA HOF Committee. She is a member of the FSA Skeet Hall of Fame and actually was one of the original shooters who helped develop the selection criteria and then pushed the FSA officers to start recognizing shooters for their shooting ability and contributions to Florida Skeet. She has been competing at our sport for over 40 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and shooting history to the committee. Mary will be filling Joe Wheeler's seat as his 3 year term is ending. I want to thank Joe for his years of service on the committee and his insight as the Chairman. Mary will be joining Dave Malarkey and Brian Bierwagen who currently sit on the committee. Please congratulate her when you see her.
Will update as we receive information.
